Hip Hop Culture

Reason #876 why I love living in St. Louis:
This weekend I went to the third annual Da B.L.I.N.G. (Believers Leading Individuals Near God).
The cool thing about this event is that it wasn't just another concert. There were also two workshops held on Friday and Saturday. I was only able to go to one of them, but it was incredible. The Ambassador spoke on Hip Hop Culture and the responsibility of Christians to involve themselves in this culture in order to reach more people with the message of the Gospel.
His theme was "From the Concert to the Classroom to the Corner" and revealed the heart of many of these Christian rappers to go beyond the stage and compel believers to study God's Truths then take them out to the streets to share what they have learned with others. You can read more about this at his website.
Now I know what Lecrae and Trip Lee sound like in real life, since they were both there to perform. Others who got up on stage were Tedashii, J.R., and The Ambassador.
Hearing about events like this is just one of the perks of knowing guys like Json and Flame who helped put it all together. They are the same guys who volunteer multiple times each week here at World Impact St. Louis, helping us reach this neighborhood for Christ.
Did I mention how much I love what I do?

I got the Flame Rewind CD (via iTunes) and I'm going to recommend some of the songs to some of my Talbot profs. Not my kind of music (no banjo in there), but cool lyrics.
