Today I signed the title of my car into my name. This might be more exciting if I didn't have to be so grown up and buy insurance, get emissions and safety inspections, pay sales tax to the state, and register my car in Missouri with new plates and tags. Don't misunderstand- I am so grateful to have a car, but man... it is so much work!
I went out this afternoon with full intentions of getting necessary tests and inspections done but I totally chickened out. It is scary enough as a girl to have to do things auto-related, but even moreso when the auto place looks so sketchy. Because I am determined to get my tests done in the city, I have acquired an accomplice for next time (to be my moral support). Hopefully I'll actually get the inspections done instead of just driving past when she comes with me.
Happy 4th of July
I must preface this by saying, I am so thankful to live in America and I am happy to celebrate our Nation's birth. However, I have to wonder who decided that exploding fire in the sky is the only way to celebrate? If you know me at all you know I just don't like fireworks. I never really have. They are loud. And smokey. And seem so dangerous. (The kids in our neighborhood chase each other with bottle rockets in hand, aimed at one another until someone gets hit- this is what lack of parental supervision allows).
It seems such a waste that I live in a city that really knows how to do the Fourth. There are multiple evenings of fireworks by the Arch, a free fair, and free concerts. And it just so happens that the view from the rooftop is perfect for watching the fireworks. Perhaps my taste will change over time. I used to say that I hated fireworks, now it's just that I don't like them. I am growing as a person.
Puppy? Yes, please.
I have been thinking a lot lately about getting a puppy. Keep in mind that I don't even have my own apartment right now, but as soon as I do, I think this will be the first major purchase I make. My friend Christy is also wanting canine companionship. She recently told me she plans to name her first dog Frank Beamer. This got me to thinking about what my dog's name might be and I am leaning now toward Bryan Randall. This way if our dogs ever play together it will be just like my senior year of college when Bryan was QB for the Hokies and together he and Frank led the team to the ACC Championship. We are so nostalgic for college football.
Sticky fingers and lots of smiles.
We have made it through two weeks of Summer Day Camp. I am teaching the Arts & Crafts elective and I just had to share these super cute pictures of the kids in my class with their latest creations. It will surely make you want to quit your job and move to the inner city to do ministry with me.
