Mid-October Musings

I know I already mentioned how much I love fall, but I just have to say that it has been so fun this week to feel the chill in the air, use my bed-warmer at night, and drive through falling leaves.

Working retail, it is already Christmas in my store. Usually I would hate that we bring the holidays so early for commercial gain, but not this year. I love it! We have been playing Christmas music and decorating for over a week. All the holiday scents are out and people are starting to get in the gift-giving mood. Someone in marketing chose to post "random acts of bling" as part of our theme. I laugh everytime I see it. When did BBW get a lesson in hiphop slang? I am still ready to move on from working retail, but I think this is a good season to exit.

I sent out my October prayer letter today. For those of you who don't receive my mailings, the main points are:
*I will be jobless November 1st, and hope to move to Wichita by Thanksgiving
*30% of my monthly need has been pledged, I still need $1000 in monthly pledges before I can move
*The rest of my team has finished raising support and moved to Wichita this week to begin training without me
*If you would like to pledge monthly, or if you know others who might be interested please let me know

I filled out a survey for ColdStone Creamery today online, I keep hoping they will send me coupons and a notice that they have brought the cake batter flavored ice cream back into stores. So far neither has come true. However, I have been entered into a sweepstakes to win $1000 for completing this survey. I wonder if the prize money is actual cash or just cutesy ice cream bucks or something. Still not a bad prize, but without the cake batter ice cream I don't know how I would spend it all. I bet I could figure something out.
