I really love having Sundays off work. Today was a good one.
After church and lunch at home, my parents and I decided to take a trip to Sweden, that is, the new IKEA store in Atlanta. I have only ever experienced IKEA online, so I had no clue what to expect. It was quite a time.
I have never been in a bigger store. This place makes WalMart look like the corner A&P. Going on a weekend was probably not the brightest idea, I'll admit, but still- there were so many people there, I felt like the employees should be holding cattle prods to get us all through.
There was so much to take in I constantly felt I must resemble a tourist in the big city, or a small child at Disney: wide-eyed and slow-moving, maybe even a little open-mouthed. I don't know how you would go about picking out things you actually needed to buy. We were just browsing and I felt completely overwhelmed.
Overall, I am impressed by the selection and variety of things they sell. I would love to have a blank canvas and a pocket full of cash to decorate to my heart's content. Since my resources are slightly smaller in scale, maybe I will choose one thing I need to find for my new home and focus on getting that so I'm not so overwhelmed on my next trip. And if I chicken out, there's also the comfort of shopping from home online...
I think everyone should visit Sweden, I mean IKEA, sometime. Next time I'll try to act more like a local.

Welcome to the wide world of sittable, touchable, breakable IKEA floorshow! Fun, isn't it. I am so happy that you have now joined the IKEA shoppers (those who follow the little arrows, anyway).
Miss you like crazy, but i will stay in touch with your blog. Grace
Funny that you mentioned breakable... my dad pulled a drawer out of one of the tables and the front broke off the sides of the drawer... it didn't make me want to take that one home.
