The REAL Tech

I stopped to get gas yesterday on the way to work. As I was getting the pump started a BMW pulled up on the other side of the pump. The driver noticed by VT sticker on my car and said, "Those Hokies are gonna lose this weekend." I kinda laughed it off and replied, "No, I don't think so." As we both finished up getting our gas his final comment was "Guess we'll see who the REAL Tech is, have a good one, hope you LOSE."
Now, I am always rooting for the Hokies. But it strikes a special chord in me when we play Georgia Tech. When I was a senior in high school and told people I was going to Virginia Tech for college, I got one too many "Is that a vocational school, will you get a technical diploma?" kinds of comments. I always wanted to scream at them: "IT'S JUST LIKE GA TECH, ONLY BETTER!"
I love that we are both in the ACC now and will get to meet more often on the field. This weekend's game will be a private victory in my heart as people in my neck of the woods are introduced to my "vocational" school.
GO HOKIES! Guess we will see who the REAL Tech is... :o)
