November Update

Dear Family and Friends,

“People on t.v. always try to make God look stupid!”

Although he said it in statement form, ten-year-old Jaques, pictured here with his younger sister, was clearly searching for answers when he shared this thought with us. It was the first day of our fall semester of Bible Club and we had just read the story of creation in Genesis and were discussing how amazing God is to have made everything on the earth.

I love when the kids get so involved in the story that they ask questions like this. It is exciting to me to hear that God is not only stirring something in their hearts, but also engaging their minds as they really grapple with choosing what to believe about who He is and who He made them to be.

Hearing what was on Jaques’ mind that day
made me realize that he is seriously weighing what he hears from us during our Bible lessons against what he hears from the world through media, friends, even family members.

I encouraged him to consider what people are
saying and to always measure it against what is written in the Bible. I want all of the kids in our program to begin to understand that the stories we tell, the verses we memorize, the standards we live by are not just ideas I or any of the other leaders came up with on our own. They are directly from the Bible, the true Word of God.

Would you pray for me and the other staff I work with, Andrew, Adria, and Aaron, as we lead
Bible Club this semester?
-Pray that we will teach these children accurately from God’s Word.

-Pray that the Truth they hear is planted firmly in their hearts.

-Pray that God transforms their minds, growing them into devoted followers of Christ.

Thank you for your prayers for us.

Serving in the City,
Beth
