September Update

Dear Family and Friends,

Rosie is an eight-year-old girl who faithfully attended our children’s programs this summer. She
often arrived early and stayed a few minutes behind waiting for a ride. In these moments before and after club our leadership team would pray for the kids and our program. After a few days of listening to us pray, one day Rosie asked if she could pray, too.

There is something really beautiful in listening to the prayer of a child. Some parts are too mumbled and quiet to even make out, others too jumbled to understand, but it is clear that the offering of praise, thanks, and petition is pure and precious to the Lord.

Hearing Rosie pray reminded me of
Matthew 19:14 when Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

I love the moments in ministry when the children ask to pray. The kids love to know that God is
always listening. Their eagerness reminds me of the great privilege we have in approaching the throne of grace and the words of the familiar hymn: “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!”

Here are some things you can carry to God in prayer for us:

-For wisdom in planning and leading our fall after-school children’s programs.

-For a majority of the 70 kids involved in the summer program to transition into our fall
programs, allowing us to build deeper relationships with them and their families.
-For growth in and protection over the six boys and one girl who committed their lives to Jesus in our
summer program, and that they will continue to seek and learn more about God.

Thank you for your continued prayers for me and the children I work with each day.

Beth
