Summer Photo Album Part 2

July is almost over and it has been another busy month.
Here's an overview of all that happened here in the past few weeks:

Summer Staff
There is always so much happening in the summer that it's hard to get most of our staff in the same building at any given time, but one day we had almost everyone around for a group photo...

Our interns, Alison, Brittany, and Stephanie were constantly hard at work... that's how we like to keep things around here...

Back Yard Bible Club
#3

This day we played "anatomy tag" and someone had just called out "knee to elbow." My little friend and I were too slow to match up a knee with an elbow and we got out on this turn... sad.

Each day we heard a Bible story. Our theme for the summer was "Who You Rollin With?" as we tried to get the kids to think about following Jesus and choosing their friends wisely. After the Bible lesson we spent time making fun crafts that went along with the lesson. Alison is an expert craft-maker. It was such a blessing to have her hear this summer!

These two boys live on the same street as the house where we held club. They became two of my new friends.

World Impact Kids Club

Each day started with a leader going over the rules and leading us in a rap to remember them.

The kids loved playing in the gym. Here we are practicing some sports skills by passing the ball.

After playtime each day we sat down for a snack and followed with a short Bible lesson. Snack time was great for just getting to know the kids as we munched on fruit and sipped our lemonade. Our group was known for spilling more lemonade than we swallowed...

We worked with a total of 65 kids this summer! The group at the Center was so big that each day we split into a younger and older group. I worked with the kids ages 6-9. Unfortunately not all of them could make it each day but this is who made it to our very last day of the program.

One more trip to Babler State Park to swim in the pool

This time it was all boys so there was much rough-housing and our staff guys definitely got their work-outs throwing the kids all around the pool. They loved it!

After spending the afternoon swimming we hosted another cookout for the neighborhood surrounding the house where Back Yard Club had been held these two weeks. Here's a picture of my friends Jason & Nancy and little baby Phelps who we will all meet at the end of October! The Phelps have a great blog with more stories from the city. Check it out by clicking here. They live in the apartment above mine so any news about their neighbors applies to my life, too!
