Coming out of the Dark

I just wanted to post a quick note to everyone to let you know that I am safe and sound in St. Louis. After nearly three days without power our electricity kicked back on today around 5pm. I have never been so thankful for air conditioning and lights!

The past few days have been interesting:
I showered by candle light.
I took a nap on the roof for the cool breeze in the shade.
I spent the majority of two days riding around in the car for relief from the heat.
I slept in my office at night since the basement was cooler than the 4th floor. I suppose that is one benefit to living in the same building as where you work.
We had a grilling party to use up all the defrosted items from the Phelps' freezer. We grilled EVERYTHING from porkchops to mini pizzas to pre-made cookie dough. We had so much food we were able to share with the neighbors and made some new friends.

For those of you who have checked in on me, thanks for your concern! Two of our staff houses are still in the dark. They are part of nearly 400,000 in the area without power. Some communities are also without water. Lots of downed trees and power lines are making the efforts to fix things a long and slow process. Please continue to pray for the power to be restored to all areas of St. Louis.
