Since I know you are all interested to hear about how support raising is coming along, I will take some time to fill you in.
My support letters were sent out last week from World Impact's national office in LA. If you did not receive one, and would like to, please let me know.
As a staff missionary with World Impact I must raise $1426 monthly to cover my living expenses so I can minister to the unreached urban poor in the inner city of St. Louis. According to my best estimates, I have 2.25% of that need pledged at this time... that's a start, but a long way from done.
This is the group of kids we took to Morning Star Ranch for a week last summer.
I cannot wait to get back to St. Louis!!! It occurred to me today that it's time for the kids to start back to school, which means it is also time to start weekly Bible club and youth activities again for the kids. When I was in STL last summer I got to work closely with the kids all summer long and I know how much they love those weekly activities. Hopefully they have just finished a great summer where they were poured into daily by the staff and interns who devoted so much time to ongoing camps and Bible clubs. One thing I hope to do when I am on staff is help organize similar activities in a new community to reach out to other kids who don't have anything to do in the summer and who don't attend church regularly. Reaching the kids also allows us to reach entire families and introduce them to a living Savior, while involving them in the church.
I am praying about the right time to quit my current job so I can move to the midwest. I would love to leave after October, so I really need my support levels to increase in the next two months. If you or anyone you know might be interested in supporting urban missions, please contact me and let me give you more information about how you can get involved.
