Autumn Announcements (and alliteration)

Trick or Treat:
I had a total of 8 kids come to my door on halloween for candy... 10 if you count the two girls who stopped by twice. It was fun to see the kids all dressed up.

Turkey Time:
We are starting to try new activities during the after school program at the Center. Last week we had an afternoon of crafts and made turkey hats. As you can see by these pictures it was a laughing good time and the kids went home in style wearing their new hats.

Internet Interrupted
We have been without internet at the Center for almost two weeks. It went out the same night we had a blackout which was caused by a natural gas explosion down the block, conveniently located across the street from my house. It took nearly 7 hours for emergency crews to put out the ten foot flame caused by the explosion (which was so powerful it blew a manhole cover completely off). Until they were able to turn off the gas our entire block was evacuated. It was quite an experience. Thankfully, nobody was hurt and we were able to return to our house that night. Unortunately, our internet was a victim of the power surge and so I am only able to check email and such by visiting the local cafe for free wireless. If you need to reach me, phone is best.

Trivia Time
Last Friday night World Impact St. Louis held its inaugural trivia fundraising event. Apparently, trivia is a big thing in St. Louis and this is a popular method for fundraising around here. We borrowed the fellowship hall of a local church and sold tables to players. Each table worked as a team to answer ten rounds of trivia questions. Each round had a specific theme, such as St. Louis Trivia, Black History, Music, Sports, and more. The evening was a great success and lots of fun. We are hoping to make this an annual event. If you want to join in on the fun next year let us know and we will keep you updated!

Trails and Tales
Soon I will be on my way for a whirlwind trip to visit family, friends, and supporters. I plan to be in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida, so if you would like to hear more about all that has been happening in STL since I moved here, please let me know and I will do my best to make my way to you. If I miss you, have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
